The most common Pipid frog species in the pet trade are Hymenochirus boettgeri and Xenopus laevis. The latter is either the albino form or the natural, pigemented form.
In North America Silurana tropicalis, Xenopus borealis and Pipa pipa are often available and, possibly, Hymenochirus curtipes.
In Europe Silurana tropicalis, Pipa parva and Pipa pipa are sometimes available. Pipa carvalhoi is rare in Europe and normally only available from private breeders.
