Can I keep pipids alone in a tank or should I keep a couple of them?

You can keep a solitary frog because they are not “social” animals. However, a group of them will be more interesting to watch especially if you are keeping ADCFs or small Pipa species in a community tank with fish. Otherwise, it’s unlikely that you will see a solitary ADCF very often.

Can I keep ADCFs together with newts?

Most of the newt species in the trade have to be kept at a relatively low temperature of about 20°C/68°F. Unfortunately, in pet stores, they often are kept at higher temperatures. There are some species that like higher temperatures, e.g .Tylototriton verrucosus or Cynops ensicauda popei. However, you have to be maintenanceful about the effects of skin secretions from the newts, which can be toxic. I don’t know anyone who keeps ADCFs and newts together. If you have any experience of this combination please send me an email.
